LINCS
Linking INformation for Children with Special Needs (LINCS) is a project of the ValleyCare Health Library funded in part with Federal funds from the National Library of Medicine, NIH, contract # N01-LM-1-3517. LINCS is a collection of reference, circulating and electronic information on special needs children for the Tri-Valley community.

Definition of Special Needs Children
Children with special needs are those who have or are at increased risk for a chronic physical, developmental, behavioral, or emotional condition that requires health related services of a type or amount beyond that generally required. Children will be defined as anyone between the ages of birth and twenty-one years.

LINCS Mission Statement
LINCS' mission is to provide access to information and resources to members of the Tri-Valley community interested in children with special needs.

LINCS Disclaimer
LINCS is intended to be an information and educational service to the community. The information and materials do not replace consultation with a health professional. Inclusion or exclusion of materials in the Library collection or the electronic data on the Library web page does not imply approval, recommendation or disapproval.

LINCS Collection
Print and audiovisual materials are available for reference and circulation via the Library Catalog. In addition, the Library maintains a collection of Journals and Databases. The Tri-Valley Health Resource Directory is a searchable database of health-related regional and local support groups and services.

LINCS Web Resources
LINCS Web Resources is a convenient, annotated list that offers you web links to local, state, federal and national organizations devoted to children with special needs.

Web sites are organized alphabetically under:

LINCS Local Resources For Special Needs Children

LINCS CA State Resources
